Four World Heritage Sites: the Tower of London; Kew Gardens; the site comprising the Palace of Westminster, Westminster Abbey, and St Margaret\u2019s Church; and the historic settlement of Greenwich (in which the Royal Observatory, Greenwich marks the Prime Meridian, 0\u00b0 longitude, and GMT). Also, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Piccadilly Circus, St Paul\u2019s Cathedral, Tower Bridge, Trafalgar Square, and The Shard. London is home to numerous museums including the British Museum, National Gallery, Natural History Museum, Tate Modern, British Library and West End theaters. The London Underground (\u201cthe Tube\u201d) is the oldest underground railway network in the world.\r\n\r\nNot mentioned above are the Regents Canal (misnamed on the map below), Camden Lock & Camden Market. On this one-day trip in September, 2016 my cousin, Shirley, took me for a tour of the canal through Camden Town. We also visited her mum, Doris Wicker, in a Kings Cross neighbourhood flat where she has resided since 1957. My relationship to Shirley & Doris: my paternal grandmother and Doris\u2019 mother are sisters \u2014 my dad was born in London.\r\n\r\nThe featured picture above is a famous pub in Camden Town. I couldn\u2019t locate a good pic in my collection of the London Eye or Parliament but if you want to contribute one, I\u2019d be chuffed.\r\n\r\n<\/object>

\r\nThis is the train platform at King\u2019s Cross Station from which students board the Hogwarts Express, the scarlet steam engine that brings students to and from Hogwarts. It can be accessed by walking straight through the solid wall between platforms nine and ten.\r\n
