Hydra, in the Saronic Gulf is one of the closest islands to Athens and is perhaps the most beautiful harbor in the Greek Islands. It has no wheeled vehicles — everything is delivered by horse or donkey. It is also famous because Leonard Cohen moved here in 1960 and wrote several songs, including “So Long, Marianne” and “Bird on the Wire”.
