Southern India is a completely different travel experience than the north — similar to the N. Italy and S. Italy differences. The divide between North and South India is seen in its culture, traditions, music, dance, geography, and politics. North Indians are descendants of the Aryan race; where as the South Indians are descendants of Dravidian race — 72% of Indians are descendants of Aryans whereas 28% are of Dravidians race. The north Indians are taller, stronger, fairer and heavily built. So, they can tell each other apart and obviously have their prejudices.
From our experience the south is much more laid-back and friendlier than the north. We spent a month in the south and saw the dramatic, tropical, lush scenery of Kerala on the west coast and the massive temples famous on the east coast in Tamil Nadu.
We started the adventure in Mumbai (Bombay). Checkout these pix from that massive city.
