For 25 days in 2022 I travelled in Southern Italy and Sicily. I have previously travelled to Northern Italy in the 1960s and 1990s to places like Venice, Milan, Lake Cuomo, San Marino, Pisa, Florence and even Rome. I have always wanted to spend time in Rome (with money because the 1st time I visited, I was completely broke), Pompeii, Naples, Amalfi Coast and Sicily.
The main road along the Amalfi coast is not for the feign of heart, so most travelers use the ferries that ply up and down the gorgeous coast. I took the bullet train from Rome to Salerno and then a bus from Salerno to Atrani (24km/15mi) that took over an hour. I learned my lesson and used the shore ferries after that harrowing ride.
And, 9 days in splendid Sicily
